Welcome to Howden

The old market town of Howden is dominated by its Minster, which leads to a beautifully preserved Georgian town centre with narrow cobbled streets and restored buildings.
Walk through Howden's narrow streets to admire its fine Georgian architecture, as well as some attractive shops, historic coaching inns and charming tea rooms. There's also a small market which takes place each Friday at Howden Shire Hall.
Close to the town centre is the historic Ashes Playing Fields with gardens, a play park and recreational areas for all to use. On the outskirts of town, Howden Marsh is a lovely place for a quiet stroll, with a lake and small islands which have become a habitat for birds and wildlife.
At the heart of the town is Howden Shire Hall, a multi-functional building used for community hires such as parties, wedding receptions, fund raising events, and weekly classes. It’s also centre for Arts, hosting live music, theatre and comedy events as well as Howden's very own cinema.
In the foyer of the hall is an Information Point where visitors can find out about attractions, services and facilities in the town.

Rotary Club of Howden Annual Sponsored Cycle Ride Sun 24th Sept

It is getting to that time of year again when Howden Rotary Club hold their annual Sponsored Cycle Ride
This year it will be held on Sunday 24 September 2017 with registration from 1:00pm – 2:00pm and starting as usual at Laxton Village Hall DN14 7TW
Rotary organise the route, registrations, marshals, refreshments, maps etc. and the riders organise sponsorship for the charity of their choice.
All the money you raise goes to your charity, not Rotary.
For those who may have benefited from Rotary funds in the past, this is a great way of adding to those funds donated. And for others it is a great way to kick off a project or add to what you have already raised.
